Harry Potter’s junior femme fatale, Emma Watson, is hard at work creating an organic and ethical fashion line for UK’s People Tree, set to hit stores in February 2010.
People Tree is an online boutique that works closely with 50 Fair Trade groups in 15 countries on as many steps of the production process as possible – growing cotton, weaving, dyeing, embroidery, stitching etc. Emma’s line, which is aimed at the aware and engaged under-24 set, is meant to “use fashion as a tool to alleviate poverty” through ethical practices. Yay, Emma! Much better use of spare time than modeling for “Bloody Burberry” – and you’ll probably earn your eco chops quickly. We look forward to your success!
