The Market NYC is Manhattan’s mecca for young fashion, jewelry, accessories art and home design.

We stopped in on Saturday to have a peek at what’s going on- here are some of the best and brightest!

Lamia Design

Lamia Akar makes these punky/classy leather gloves – the perfect addition to any outfit. Andriana especially liked the short gloves – hip and perfect for biking gloves. Made from new materials, they’re not the most eco-friendly fashion out there – but Lamia is 100% committed to hand-made non-mainstream craftsmanship, and these gloves are an amazing example.

Wrecords by Monkey

We’re all familiar with stuff made out of recycled vinyl records, but Wrecords by Monkey takes the craft to the next level – with laser-cut cameos and intricate patterns, and artistic silkscreening on the thin and thick cuffs. We were especially impressed by the sanded edges- so often vinyl record cuffs are so scratchy when you slide them on…these guys take special care to create a great product as well as a great-looking one. Thanks, Brian, for the photos!

S/Nash and Porcupine/Film

These two ladies don’t have websites up yet: for them, jewelry making is a hobby turning into an art. But their wonderfully hip and feminine style is worth looking into, even if it’s just to stop by The Market and have a look.

Porcupine/Film is exactly what it sounds like: Simone makes beautiful jewelry out of bits of film, porcupine spines (that she sources directly from the snouts of dogs) and watch faces – found objects with inherent beauty.

S/Nash casts jewelry from animal bones and antique children’s toys – creating this kind of badass girly style that we really love.

Yay Market NYC! We love you and we will keep coming back.
