My girl Genna in London tipped me on this one: big-time clothing retailer Topshop in the UK has just launched a new campaign, hosting workshops for creative consumers to recycle their old clothes into hip, authentic boho.

Their site offers tips on how to mix/match/repurpose/alter your old clothes to create new looks…and the advice isn’t half bad! Is this the dawn of a much awaited change of guard where we no longer buy jeans with the holes already in them? Or those terrible looking flowy dress things at Urban Outfitters that attempt at the recycled look but are really manufactured in frightening numbers in complete violation of OSHA labor laws and shipped to you from Bangladesh? Maybe confronting this mirage in a productive way will help build awareness and turn the tables in the fashion industry?

Either way, it inspires me to take out the old sewing machine and get to work…
